US GreenFiber was formed in 2000 as a 50/50 joint venture between Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (NYSE: LPX) and Casella Waste Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CWST), and the merging of their respective companies, Greenstone and US Fiber. The venture provided a more efficient distribution of Cocoon® insulation on a national level, combining Casella’s experience and accessibility to raw materials and Louisiana-Pacific’s outstanding position in the building materials industry.
In addition to its Charlotte, N.C. corporate headquarters and separate state-of-the-art research and development facility, US GreenFiber operates manufacturing facilities in 14 US locations: Albany, N.Y., Charlotte, N.C., Delphos, Ohio, Denver, Colo., East St. Louis, Ill., Elkwood, Va., Lithia Springs, Ga., Norfolk, Neb., Phoenix, Ariz., Sacramento, Calif., Salt Lake City, Utah, Tampa, Fla. and Waco, Texas. The 14th plant, a Scott’s Patch Master Plant, is located in Elkwood, Va. Nationwide, the company employs 600.
US GreenFiber, LLC is a quality-conscious provider of Cocoon insulation, fire and sound products. Products are sold through major home centers, building supply retailers and lumberyards in the U.S. and Canada to the do-it-yourself and contractor customer. US GreenFiber products are also sold through a national sales force to residential and commercial contractors as well as to the manufactured housing industry. GreenFiber has the capacity to turn what has previously been an environmentally-friendly "specialty" product into a major competitor in the building products industry.
US GreenFiber’s products consist of 85% recycled paper fiber (at least 80% recovered, post-consumer paper content and 5% post-industrial paper content) that has been treated with borates to not only meet, but exceed fire resistance requirements. For more information, visit www.us-gf.com. |
