Tile Backerboard or not Posted by: on 2009-03-07 02:26
In tub/shower areas, you would use the tile backer board (DensShield) for tiling. In the rest of the bathroom, can you use the regular fiberglass panel (DensArmor Plus) and apply tiles to it?

Yes. DensArmor Plus can be be used as a tilebacker in non-wet areas ( in this case, the rest of the bathroom ).
Is Glass-Mat product paintable? Posted by: on 2010-01-05 13:54
Is this product paintable (interior finish)and how are lap and corner joints sealed?
Re: Is Glass-Mat product paintable? Posted by: on 2010-01-06 11:28
The only Dens products that are paintable are DensArmor Plus - High Performance Interior Panel, and the DensArmor Plus Abuse-Resistant and Impact Resistant panels, so I assuming that that is what he is calling "this product." As with most interior gypsum wallboard, a skim coat using a high-solids primer should be used to obtain best finishing results. The butt and corner joints (there are no lap joints) should be covered with either fiberglass mesh tape or paper tape, and the first coat filled with a setting compound. The rest of the coats may be regular joint compound. Thank you for your interest in Georgia-Pacific's Dens products.
