Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Compare engineered wood products to their traditional lumber counterparts in beam and header applications, including their cost effective applications and ease of installation.
- Explain the manufacturing process of three different engineered wood products, and how the products are used in engineered wood floor systems.
- Discuss the properties, performance, and design criteria of engineered wood floor systems.
- Explain the material and resource efficiency of engineered wood products and discuss why, since natural forest resources are being exhausted, they represent the future of structural wood products.

Title: District Sales Manager, Engineered Wood Products, LP® Building Products
Background: Tommy DeLoach conducts the majority of training programs for LP’s engineered wood products business. He works closely with the manufacturing, engineering, and marketing departments at LP to ensure brand consistency and technical accuracy when delivering training. Tommy has over eleven years experience in the EWP industry and is an expert in the production, design, application, and installation of engineered wood products. He holds a Bachelors of Architecture from Texas Tech University with a design specialization and a business minor. He is a board member of his local CSI chapter as well as having served as chapter president for two terms. He is also a licensed general contractor in the state of North Carolina. To date, Tommy has taught more than 100 courses for LP Building Products.
