Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Discuss the current and future regulations of the various air districts throughout the U.S. and how the coating industry is changing to meet the challenges.
Define sustainability and the environmentally-focused programs that relate to high perfomance coatings.
State specification requirements and life-cycle assessment of long-term performance coatings and the resulting impact in the environment.
Recommend the appropriate coating system to meet the intent and requirements of both voluntary programs, such as LEED, and the various government mandated environmental control measures.

Name: Terry Wallace
Title: Director of Architectural Products, Tnemec Company, Inc.
Background: Terry Wallace is currently the Director of Architectural Products for Tnemec Company. He has been involved in the coatings industry for over 15 years and was Vice President and co-owner of Chemprobe Technologies, Inc., a coatings manufacturer, from 1993 to 1999. Chemprobe primarily manufactures products for the protection of concrete and other masonry substrates. In 1999 Tnemec Company acquired Chemprobe and Wallace became Director of Masonry Products. In early 2003 he moved to his current position which includes responsibility for all products in the Tnemec line that are sold in the architectural market. Wallace is a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT), NACE Certified Coating Inspector, Certified Consultant of Concrete Masonry (CCCM) and LEED Accredited Professional. He is also an active member of The Society for Protective Coatings (Fluoropolymer Committee Chair), the Sealant Waterproofing and Restoration Institute and ASTM.
