Sloan Valve Company Celebrates 100 Years

In 1906, William Elvis Sloan engineered the Royal® Flushometer, a product that replaced tank-type toilets in public restrooms because of its superior performance and its ability to cycle quickly for many users. Diaphragm and piston flush valves are still the only viable Flushometer technologies in use today.

Sloan Valve Company pioneered a new era for the plumbing industry three decades ago with sensor-operated plumbing fixtures that significantly decrease water use and improve restroom hygiene. Today, a new generation of water-conserving restroom products is available from Sloan. 

Along with its flagship Flushometer products, Sloan manufactures sensor-operated and manually activated faucets, including the solar-powered, low-flow Solis™. Other leading innovations include the Uppercut™, the first commercially viable dual-flush technology for Flushometers, as well as Waterfree Urinals that eliminate all water consumption and provide touchless operation. Sloan’s high-performance, 1.0-gallon FLUSHMATE® pressure-assist operating system for water closets generates almost three times the flow rate of gravity-fed toilets at 70 gallons per minute and new XLerator® Hand Dryers use 80% less energy than other dryers and operate for less than 10% of the cost of paper towels.

Recognizing a void for quality plumbing products outside the restroom, Sloan also established itself as a leading manufacturer of surgical scrub stations, showerheads and computerized plumbing control systems that regulate water use in defined locations and at specified times.
