Founded in 1892, FreemanWhite is the 11th oldest firm in the US. The firm's founder, Charles C. Hook, is considered North Carolina's first architect and one of the most notable in the state's architectural history with 43 historically registered landmarks. (The firm's name contained Hook from 1892-1967 when it became FreemanWhite.)
The firm's expansion into the 21st century has been facilitated by its healthcare and senior living foundation. The addition of healthcare consulting services enhances the firm's architectural heritage and further extends its multi-disciplinary professional expertise. Today, the firm is among the largest in the country with 200 employees and offices in Charlotte and Raleigh, NC, Minneapolis, MN and Trivandrum, India.

About the FreemanWhite Academy
The FreemanWhite Academy is the keystone of the firm's educational program and was honored with the AIA/CES Award for Excellence (Large Firm) in 2001 and the CSI National Education Commendation in 2003. The Academy is a structured professional development process providing over 300 courses tailored to meet the specific requirements of 42 different FW staff positions, the AEC industries and professions at-large, 331 licenses across 38 states, and membership certifications in 55 different associations.
