BIM (building information modeling) represents a significant advancement in the way building-related information is digitized, recorded, shared, and utilized. BIM model(s) associated with data stores containing graphical and nongraphical information can now be used to inform and analyze every step of the design, construction, and operations phases of buildings. This course describes the current nature and benefits of BIM, its impact on the AECO (architectural, engineering, construction, and operations) industry, and where BIM may lead this industry in the future.
