This presentation describes the functions and benefits of a thermal break in an aluminum fenestration framing system. There are many types of thermal breaks available in exterior architectural aluminum systems; it is important to understand what they are, how they perform and how to select the appropriate system for each project. Examples of the many methods of incorporating a thermal break into fenestration systems are illustrated and explained. Testing methods used to evaluate their performance are also explained.
