Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes
The Architectural Institute of British Columbia’s Post-Disaster Response Committee has been working with government authorities and other professional associations to develop a standardized and interconnected system for damage assessment following major disasters. Our goal is to establish a national network of trained assessors available to perform rapid safety and detailed damage assessments for municipalities in need. Quickly assessing buildings reduces the social impact on communities by allowing re-occupation for residents, businesses, and local services. This workshop-style session will introduce the work of the committee and have participants collaborating and brainstorming on the role that architects across the country can play in post-disaster response.
Presented by various experts on behalf of Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).
