FA12 Modern Building Enclosures: Implementing the New Energy Standards

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes

Building codes and regulations have been changing – perhaps more quickly than at almost any time in history – to improve the resource efficiency and durability of buildings.  Current and proposed building codes contain simple and reasonable provisions for much better building enclosures, but these changes also have far-reaching implications.  This session will examine building code changes and their direct impact on architectural design.  Case studies, including several tall residential and commercial buildings, will be used to explain how new code requirements are pushing toward new approaches to enclosure design and construction.

Presented by various experts on behalf of Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).
