FA18 Storied Architecture - Creating Meaning On The Fringe

Approximately 1 hour

"Acre Architects is developing a practice of Storied Architecture in Atlantic Canada. The Acre frames its work within a global context with a commitment to local commissions that emphasize building a sense of place and identity through a willful and inspired process of storied architecture. Making its base camp in the province of New Brunswick where there are only 11 Architects under the age of 40, Acre Architects celebrates the unique nature of this architectural landscape. It engages opportunities that lie outside of larger city centres, where there is an impetus to rise above the increasing challenges commonly found on the fringe. By not taking the conventional order of things as a given, the Acre is finding a way to meaningfully create a space for architecture to contribute to the identity of Atlantic Canada and to engage the communities that house their projects. At the heart of the practice is the desire to help their clients live great stories and for those stories to create our history."
