Plenary Dialogue – Small is Big: Architectural Connexions to Our Community

Approximately 3 hours

"Dialogue. “People freely and creatively exploring issues, listening deeply to each other and suspending their own views in search of the truth. People in dialogue have access to a larger pool of knowledge than any one person enjoys. The primary purpose is to enlarge ideas, not to diminish them. It’s not about winning acceptance of a viewpoint, but exploring every option and agreeing to do what is right.” In this Plenary Dialogue, our panel will explore “Architectural Connexions” that shapes the places where we live and work while responding to social and cultural heritage and the environment. Big cities were once small. Small towns sometimes grow larger. History can be a wonderful teacher. The successes and failures of our cities can provide foundations for creative and new ideas that explore ways to initiate responsible and livable communities. The audience will have the opportunity to participate in the dialogue which will generate ideas for the following day’s charrette."
