Performance Benefits of Insulated Metal Panels
This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.
Finding an envelope solution that lowers operational costs is key to both lowering energy costs and reducing carbon emissions. This course reviews the sustainable and building performance benefits of insulated metal wall and roof panels and includes discussions on materials, design and finish options, construction life cycle, enhanced building performance and energy conservation, and applications.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Discuss how the materials and finishes used in the manufacture of IMPs contribute to the durability, energy efficiency, and thermal performance of IMP systems by comparing their insulating values to traditional systems and describe the value of having an Environmental Product Declaration to back up life-cycle product claims.
- Explain how IMPs improve building performance by lowering energy costs, preventing moisture intrusion, and improving the thermal comfort of its occupants.
- Discuss the applications of IMP wall and roof panels in commercial and industrial buildings and how they can be easily adapted to pre-engineered metal building designs.
- Analyze the sustainability benefits, attributes, and performance criteria of IMPs in terms of their contribution to LEED® certification programs and achieving net-zero energy targets.
