Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Summarize the role of daylighting and describe its challenges for use in sustainable design.
- Describe three active and passive daylighting design strategies.
- Compare and contrast dynamic window options to electrochromic window systems with respect to energy management .
- Recall the process by which the electrochromic coating darkens or tints.
- List the four components that make up an electrochromic control system.
- Describe three different methods of electrochromic glazing control and a building user situation applicable to each.

Name: Andrew J. Hulse
Title: Vice President of Business Development, SAGE Electrochromics, Inc.
Background: Mr. Hulse is currently Vice President of Business Development for SAGE Electrochromics where he has led the implementation of dynamic technologies into building envelop systems for the last 2 years. For 12 years prior to that he held senior executive positions with Honeywell International in Aerospace and Defense well as Home and Building Controls. Previously he spent a decade as a Naval Flight Officer in instructional and operational roles including support of Operation Desert Shield. Mr. Hulse graduated from Purdue University with a BSE, Robotic Engineering and a MSE, Engineering Systems Management from St Mary’s University, San Antonio.
