Columbia, Maryland (January 9, 2008)- Nemetschek North America congratulates VectorWorks user Raymond Beeler Architect PC for winning three American Institute of Architects (AIA) awards for its work on two library expansions. The company was awarded a 2007 AIA Westchester/Mid-Hudson Chapter First Honor Award and a 2007 AIA Long Island Chapter "Archi" Award for the Syosset Public Library Expansion. The firm also received an "Archi" Award commendation from the AIA Long Island for its Baldwin Public Library Expansion. The 13-million-dollar expansion to the Syosset Public Library, located on Long Island, New York, added 25,000 square feet of space onto the existing 18,000 square-foot 1960s structure. The addition extends behind, as well as up and over the top of, the existing building and houses a 150-seat tiered auditorium, gallery spaces, new stack and reading areas, administrative offices, and public-access computers. Pelham, New York, firm Raymond Beeler Architect PC used VectorWorks Architect for the entire design and development of the project. "We've been using VectorWorks since its inception 20 years ago, initially doing mostly residential projects," says firm principal Ray Beeler, AIA. "As we've grown into receiving complex institutional and commercial commissions, we've found that VectorWorks Architect has risen to the challenge and been able to handle all the associated demands."
