When choosing flooring for healthcare applications the patient’s needs are paramount; however, the needs of the facility and the staff, and the unique demands of the healthcare industry also need to be addressed. This course explores resilient flooring options for the healthcare industry and includes discussions on industry requirements, types of products available, product properties, and specifications.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- List the requirements of a healthcare flooring system, and describe how they can make a positive contribution to the healthcare environment.
- Compare the different resilient flooring product categories in terms of their features and their chemical properties.
- Compare product data based on ASTM designations, and discuss the difficulties involved when comparing data for different product categories from ASTM tests.
- Specify the appropriate flooring for a project based on the project needs and the characteristics of the resilient flooring.

Name: Lora Di Fabio
Title: Design & Development Manager, American Biltrite
Background: Lora graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Honours in Graphic Design. She has been working in design and product development for over 20 years. Lora joined Bombardier in 1993 as part of the Design & Innovation team, specializing in color development, branding and corporate image. She joined American Biltrite in 2012. Lora has lectured regularly at the University of Montreal on Color development in Manufacturing. She is a current member of the Color Marketing Group (CMG) since 2006 with an active role in directing color trends and facilitating industry workshops.
