Roy, Ph.D., FASA is employed by Armstrong World Industries at the Innovation Center in Lancaster, PA, with responsibilities for acoustic technologies worldwide, which includes extensive teaching programs and international standards participation. Current focus is on architectural building products R&D, with research involving the interactions between electronic sound systems and architectural design as relates to speech privacy and speech intelligibility in building spaces. Recent research topics include 3-D architectural modeling and auralization of design spaces, speech privacy design in open and closed plan spaces, and acoustic effects on knowledge worker productivity.
