Storage Systems: Managing Space and Efficiency

This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.

High-density storage systems evolved because the function of storage was expanded: the need to maximize space to store records. This course looks at the types of high density storage solutions including shelving, rotary systems, mobile systems, and vertical and horizontal carousels. Includes a discussion on the factors used to determine the best system to meet the client’s requirements.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Evaluate the four types of high density storage options with respect to ease of use, security, and type of files housed.
  • Select a mobile high density storage system considering space availability, structural and seismic restrictions, number of users, and security requirements.
  • Compare enclosed shelving with open shelving in terms of aesthetics, and ease of use.
  • Determine your clients stargaze requirements and match those needs with an applicable storage system.
