An efficient recycling program provides a range of benefits including the potential to save on monthly waste disposal fees. However, recycling programs can vary greatly; therefore, it is very important to analyze your clients’ requirements ahead of time to achieve the best results. This program reviews the purpose of recycling, steps on setting priorities and analyzing needs when setting up a recycling program, considerations for servicing workstations and public spaces, guidance on how to select the right containers, and other tips for improving sustainability efforts.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Discuss the potential benefits of recycling: the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the conservation of our natural resources, keeping harmful pollutants out of the ground, and reducing the stress placed on landfills.
- State the advantages of implementing an efficient recycling program including savings on waste disposal fees, creating a more favorable public image, and contributing to LEED® certification.
- Identify the steps in establishing successful recycling and waste program priorities and strategies to increase a business’s recycling rates while reducing what is sent to landfill.
- List considerations for container selection and determine appropriate signage and labeling, given users’ priorities and needs.

Title: Sustainability Specialist, Busch Systems
Background: John Greenway has been with Busch Systems since early 2011, first starting as Account Manager for the Northwest U.S.A and then later Canada. His current role, as a Sustainability Specialist with Busch Systems, is to assist clients and customers with their various and unique recycling and waste initiatives. Having been in the industry for 5 years now, he has assisted with the deployment of various sustainability initiatives and zero-waste programs throughout North America. Drawing from his past experiences with both the public and ICI sector, he has become a product expert and industry leader on how best to plan and implement these sometimes challenging programs, and ensure both the program's immediate and future success.
