The roofing system can have a dramatic effect on the building’s life cycle and energy costs, as well as its overall appearance. This course explores stone coated steel roofing systems, and includes discussions on the installation methods used, testing and standards, and comparative characteristics and sustainable attributes of stone coated steel roofing versus traditional roofing materials.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Evaluate roofing materials based on performance and sustainable attributes.
  • List the characteristics, benefits, and finishes of metal roofing systems.
  • Discuss the sustainable features of metal roofing and the environmental impact of metal roofs versus alternative roofing materials.
  • Describe how metal roofing can contribute to LEED® points earned on a project and the various testing methods used for stone coated steel roofing systems.
  • Contrast the various installation methods of stone coated steel roofing systems.
