Provides an overview of colored concrete including coloring methods, pigments, color consistency, and maintenance. It also examines the specification considerations of cast-in-place and precast concrete as well as concrete finishes.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Explain how concrete is integrally colored, identify its advantages, and list the LEED® credits impacted by colored concrete .
- Describe the various applications for vertical and flatwork cast-in-place colored concrete and the specification considerations unique to these applications.
- Describe the various applications for precast colored concrete and their specification considerations.
- List some of the methods used for finishing colored concrete and the steps to take to ensure a successful design project.

Background: Nick Paris is Vice President of Marketing for Davis Colors, a brand of Rockwood Pigments. Mr. Paris has been involved in the marketing of color pigments into the US construction industry since 1986 with specific emphasis on cast-in-place and architectural applications. Mr. Paris co-developed the Chameleon computerized color dosing system for concrete batching and mixing operations. Mr. Paris has a BS degree in Marketing from University of Southern California.
