Green building helps preserve the environment and natural resources, and there are a variety of water-saving products available for kitchens and baths to help meet green design goals. This course explores the benefits of green building with a focus on the need for water efficiency, and includes discussions on LEED® certification, specifically relating to green products for the kitchen and bath.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Argue the need for green building practices from both an environmental and economic perspective.
- Discuss the LEED green building certification program and how points are earned for water efficiency under various LEED rating systems.
- Discuss the benefits of various types of green products for the kitchen and bath with an emphasis on plumbing products available for commercial and/or residential use.
- Identify and specify water-saving faucets, showerheads, and flush valves that will help earn points toward LEED certification on a building project.
