Background: Chris Mooney, GAF Material's, National Training Manager for the Center for the Advancement of Roofing Excellence (CARE), has trained thousands of people interested in having less problems with all types of roofing systems, commercial and residential. He started in roofing in 1979 while still in High School and owned and operated his own roofing company for 9 years during college and directly after. Chris joined GAF in 1994 as Northeast Region Warranty Field Inspector and inspected thousands of troubled roofing systems over the next 3 years. As GAF's National Certified Contractor Program Manager, he assisted GAF in start-up of a new national steep slope certified contractor program and ran hundreds of seminars for roofing professionals, architects, property owners and specifiers. Chris developed and authored GAF's Pro Field Guide manuals for roofing installers. The CARE program is one of the industry's only full time training platforms for roofing professionals. Chris created a new team for this entirely new training program and under his direction CARE has trained over 22,000 professionals in just over three years. Chris still handles all training for GAF's certified contractors through seminars, videos and field work as well as all new GAF salespeople.
