Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Define electric resistance heat (ERH) and identify the ways it can be supplied to commercial and residential spaces or entire buildings.
  • Discuss the benefits of electric heating, including its availability, safety, lifetime costs, and energy efficiency.
  • Explain why a zone heating system allows for greater control over heat distribution and how it impacts energy savings and occupant comfort.
  • Identify types of electric heaters and discuss the pros and cons of each type.
  • Describe the operational and performance features of a smart heater and describe how wireless control technology impacts energy costs savings and occupant comfort.
  • Discuss how a wireless enabled, programmable controller lets building owners and homeowners manage electric smart heaters, zones, and programs for an entire building or residence by using a mobile device.
