Choosing a sink and countertop for kitchen and bathroom installations can be overwhelming with the array of choices in today's marketplace. To facilitate the selection process, this course provides an overview of the different sink/countertop materials, sink configurations, and installation methods that are utilized in both residential and commercial applications with a focus on seamless integration design.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • List the pros and cons of the common materials used in sink and countertop construction in terms of durability, ease of cleaning/maintenance, cost, aesthetics, and stain/heat/scratch resistance.
  • Define the design considerations related to sink selection that affect the sink's usability and effectiveness, including the various configurations and style features that are available.
  • Explain the different installation methods of sinks, including topmount, undermount, and seamless integration and how they compare in terms of cleanability and maintenance requirements to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Discuss the key design features, seam technology, and installation steps of seamlessly integrated sinks to ensure an airtight, antimicrobial environment.
