Making Products Last: A Review of Metal Panel Warranties
This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.
There is no blanket approach to warranties for metal panel roofing. It is a misconception that the standard warranty holds the manufacturer responsible for defects in installation. This course discusses three types of warranties typically seen in metal roof design specifications; in order to show how warranties work, what is covered, and what is excluded, some of the key issues associated with the installation of metal panel roofing are presented.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Describe GalvalumeĀ® metal panels and paint finishes for metal, and compare the variances within the industry for GalvalumeĀ® and paint warranties.
- Examine the two main types of weathertightness warranties by explaining how they have evolved within the industry and how they differ.
- Recognize the roles of responsibility for the architect, roofing contractor, and roofing manufacturer under the terms and conditions of a weathertightness warranty.
- Discern the best weathertightness warranty for a specific metal panel roofing project.
