Porcelain tile containing recycled content provides residential and commercial building projects with a durable, easy to maintain finish material for interior or exterior, floors, walls, or other surfaces. This course highlights the eco-friendly production practices of porcelain tile and details its contributions to the design and performance of a building.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Discuss why, by its nature, components and production practices, porcelain tile is considered an ecological product.
- Describe the sustainable attributes of porcelain tile and detail the contributions of a porcelain tile installation to the overall design and performance of a building.
- Analyze the sustainability benefits, attributes and performance criteria of porcelain tile relative to qualifying for credits under today’s green building programs.
- Compare porcelain tile to other flooring systems in terms of their life-cycle, environmental, economic, and human benefits.
- Identify product testing and performance requirements and standards applicable to the manufacture and installation of porcelain tile.
