Cement board is a lightweight, rigid substrate that provides an exceptionally hard, durable surface that is able to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture. This course addresses cement backer board, its features and benefits, and versatile interior and exterior applications, including Cement Board Stucco Systems (CBSS) and Cement Board Masonry Veneer (CBMV). The program reviews CBSS and CBMV components and performance benefits.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Describe and compare three different types of cement backer board in terms of their composition, characteristics, and applications.
- Describe a Cement Board Stucco System, its features and performance benefits, and compare it to various types of traditional stucco installation systems.
- List the various components of a Cement Board Stucco System and outline the role they play within the system.
- Explain what a Cement Board Masonry Veneer system is and list its components.
- Detail the advantages a Cement Board Masonry Veneer system has over the conventional method of installation.

Amy also manages the efforts of a team of Construction Design Managers who serve as the face and voice of NGC’s innovative line of paper-faced and fiberglass mat gypsum mold and moisture management strategies.
