A well-designed building is only as durable as the roof that protects it. For a relatively minor investment, roofing cover boards solve many issues that cause damage to a roof during installation and into the warranty period. This course reviews low-slope roof systems and discusses various cover board types and reasons for their use, including benefits, primary features, and challenges.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Define the reasons to use a cover board in the design of a low-slope roofing system.
- Examine the different types of cover board materials available in the marketplace.
- Explain which cover boards you should use with which types of low-slope roof systems.
- Examine factors impacting the long-term performance of a commercial roof system such as wind, fire and moisture.
- Compare performance characteristics of the various cover boards to help determine which board to use for which roof project.
