Elevated Outdoor Flooring System for Stone and Tile

There are many important considerations and issues related to outdoor tile and stone surfacing installations. This course provides an overview of the causes of their frequent failures, a detailed description of a system which addresses those issues and avoids the failures, and case studies of successful system installations in various contexts.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Analyze appropriateness of existing conditions and materials for outdoor stone and tile flooring installations.
  • Determine the most likely causes of problems in failed installations.
  • Utilize elevated systems to create the most positive conditions for new outdoor tile and stone installations.
  • Utilize elevated systems to remediate failed installations, and select, detail, and specify the correct elevated system for every individual new or remediation situation.
