Specialty Door Hardware

This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.

Commercial applications of specialty door hardware encompass traditional building, as well as unusual architectural elements. Unique applications and “industrial strength” are what distinguish specialty door hardware from standard door hardware. This course provides a review of specialty door hardware with a focus on the specific components that make up this category, including a discussion on applying specialty door hardware to specific projects.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Define speciality door hardware and the types of products included in this category.
  • List the types of architectural applications of specialty door hardware.
  • Determine types of track, weight capacities and length of track required for specific projects.
  • Summarize how to chose and mount brackets, including centering distance for mounting.
  • List the different types of hinges, ball bearings, and disc bearings, and determine which to apply for different applications.
  • Discuss various components of specialty door hardware including hardware finishes and how to apply them to certain applications.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered online, at your own pace.
