Rusting is a natural process that occurs due to everyday environmental conditions, but it is both predictable and preventable. This course explains the importance of rust prevention and treatment, and includes discussions on the rusting process, surface preparation, coating types, and choosing appropriate coating systems.

Title: National Architectural & Engineering Business Development Manager, Rust-Oleum Corporation
Background: David O’Bryan grew up in a union painting family in the Chicago area and started working in the sales side of the paint industry out of college in 1990. He has worked in different capacities from management to sales. In 2009, he became involved with the architectural and engineering community as the Architectural Sales Manager for Akzo Nobel. In that role, he provided design and specification assistance, product knowledge, and continuing education programs. In April of 2010, he joined the CSI and began working towards certifications. In September of 2010, he successfully passed the CSI Construction Documents Technologist certification.
In June 2012, he became the Architectural & Engineering Business Development Manager for Rust-Oleum offering specification assistance, product knowledge and continuing education programs. After taking on that position, he joined NACE and SSPC to continue his education and certifications in the construction industry. It has been an integral part of his career development, knowledge, and has helped to create numerous relationships in the architectural & engineering community that will continue for years. He holds the NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 3, SSPC Concrete Coatings Inspector (CCI) as well as the MPI Architectural Coatings Technologist Level One Certification.
