This course is Part 1 of two courses aimed at helping contractors get organized, be proactive, and to work efficiently on LEED projects. Part 1 covers proposal preparation for LEED projects and general documentation principles, and also provides some recommendations and best practices for bidding and award during preconstruction.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Recall examples for areas of impact while bidding on LEED projects.
- Identify the scope of work contributing to LEED calculations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of requirements denoted by the LEED Project Checklist.
- Discuss best practices for bidding and award.

Background: Sarah Andrews has worked in the construction industry for more than 25 years in civil and vertical commercial construction, project management, estimating, construction and mine safety, adult education, and sustainable construction. Sarah presently provides consulting services in the green building industry including strategies and solutions for construction professionals engaged in bid preparation, project planning, implementation, documentation, and certification under green building rating systems including LEED.
