Vinyl: A Modern Material for Modern Healthcare (Removed)

Some of the design goals for healthcare buildings are efficiency and cost-effectiveness, cleanliness and sanitation, security and safety and sustainability. Vinyl’s unique attributes mean that it can address these needs in a number of locations in the building. This course reviews those attributes through a look at the chemistry and performance characteristics of vinyl, and its innovative uses for healthcare design challenges.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Define the basics of the vinyl production process, including emissions and chemistry.
  • Describe safety attributes and benefits of vinyl in healthcare, such as cleanability, durability, fire resistance, and slip resistance.
  • Identify vinyl’s application to sustainable healthcare design, including indoor environmental quality
  • Discuss how vinyl supports healthcare innovation, such as a reduction of healthcare-acquired events like slips, falls, or infections.

Approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes. Delivered online, at your own pace.
