Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Identify the physical and performance properties of rigid PVC drywall trim and accessories, and discuss the aesthetic advantages of using them compared with those of their traditional counterparts.
- Evaluate the sustainability aspects of rigid PVC drywall trim and accessories in terms of their recycled content, durability, chemical resistance, and contributions to improving indoor air quality and reducing construction waste.
- Identify LEED categories and credits to which rigid PVC drywall trim and accessories may contribute to a project earning LEED certification.
- Discuss the use of PVC in building construction and its environmental impact in four areas of the construction industry.
- Identify key building code issues relative to specifying rigid PVC drywall trim.

Title: Consulting Architect, TRIM-TEX Inc.
Background: Thomas Budzik, AIA is a Registered Architect in the State of Illinois. Mr. Budzik received his Master of Architecture and Master in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Mr. Budzik was the recipient of the Charles G. Rummel Fellowship in Architecture and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at the University of Illinois he also studied at The Fakultät f. Architektur of the Technische Universität München in Munich, Germany.
After working several years at medium sized firms in the north suburbs of Chicago, Mr. Budzik ventured out to open his own private practice in 2005. The firm continues to strive for excellence, and to promote a professional level of service for all its clients. Thomas Budzik has a long standing relationship with Trim-tex, working with them on a number of projects for the past 10 years.
Mr. Budzik is an active member of the Polish Community in Chicago and is on the Board of Directors of the Copernicus Foundation / Fundacja Kopernikowska. Additionally he is a member of the Alpha Rho Chi, Anthemios Alumni Association, and serves on the Prospect Heights Business and Economic Development Commission.
