Healthy Indoor Air Quality by Design (Removed)
This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.
Indoor air quality can dramatically influence the health and comfort of building occupants. It is critical to understand and control common pollutants in order to reduce the risk of health concerns related to indoor environments. This course examines the pollutants common to building interiors and their potential to cause adverse health effects. Discussions include VOC content and emissions, the value of an IAQ management plan, and the importance of specifying low-emitting materials.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Identify sources of indoor air pollutants and summarize the impact of indoor air pollution on human health.
- Explain the difference between low VOC emissions and low VOC content, and how they affect air quality.
- Discuss the value of an IAQ management plan from construction through to operations and maintenance.
- State the importance of selecting certified low-emitting products to control VOC emissions in the indoor environment.
