Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Define terms related to the production and application of woven wire cloth; and, identify various types of mesh in terms of their pattern and characteristics relative to their strength, transparency, metal density, surface finish and optical effect.
    Examine the architectural applications of woven wire mesh for facades and ceilings, as well as interior and exterior spaces.
    Discuss the design characteristics of wire cloth that make it an effective solution for sun protection systems thus improving indoor environment quality and optimizing occupant comfort.
    Illustrate how woven wire mesh applications can enhance a building performance through improved climate control and reduce a buildings energy costs.
    Discuss the functional and environmental values of woven wire mesh in terms of reduced waste onsite, recyclability, and durability.
