This presentation provides an overview of sustainable materials for the bath, including production, performance, maintenance, and frameworks for assessment, and focuses on recycled copper, sustainably made concrete, FSC®-certified bamboo, and reclaimed wood.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Discuss the triple bottom line accounting framework as a method of measuring sustainable practices in terms of their economic, environmental, and social impact.
  • Define sustainable materials in terms of their durable, recycled, recyclable, rapidly renewable, reclaimed, and environmental and energy-efficient production process characteristics.
  • Name the sustainable aspects of recycled copper, glass, sustainably made concrete, FSC®-certified wood, and reclaimed wood.
  • Describe the production processes for recycled copper sinks and tubs, spun-glass sinks, sustainably made concrete sinks and tubs, and reclaimed wood bath furniture.
  • Explain the performance benefits and care of bath fixtures and furniture made of these materials.
