EPDM Roofing Systems

EPDM roofing systems have the longest proven performance record of all single-ply membranes and deliver on green building goals. In this course, discover EPDM roofing types, attachment options, color, and longevity considerations. Project examples are used to review selection of the appropriate type of EPDM roof.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

• Describe EPDM, its physical characteristics, and performance advantages, emphasizing its proven historical performance as a green roofing product.
• Explain the three system attachment types: ballasted, mechanically attached, and fully adhered.
• Describe seaming steps and the use of innovative tape technologies.
• Explain factors that impact durability and longevity of EPDM systems.
• Evaluate key factors to consider in selecting black or white roofs and addressing codes and rating systems that support the use of both.
• Select an EPDM roof for any climate.
