Good daylighting design meets the illumination requirements of a space and brings about physical, psychological, and energy-saving benefits. This course examines how aerogel filled polycarbonate sheeting systems can help meet sustainable design goals and contribute to energy-efficient daylighting design and the overall health and well-being of building occupants.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Explain the importance of daylighting on overall human health and well-being, and its role in sustainable design.
- Define polycarbonate sheeting in terms of composition, and summarize its U-value and light transmittance properties.
- Discuss aerogel polycarbonate sheeting and its performance attributes.
- List the benefits of good daylighting design in terms of occupant comfort, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency.
- Describe how specifying polycarbonate sheeting systems can contribute toward LEED® certification.
