Thin Brick Veneer Wall Systems

This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.

Thin brick veneer wall systems offer a lightweight design option to use in many areas, both where traditional bricks are used as well as where their use is limited, such as interior accent walls or inset panels. This course outlines the differences between wall systems using anchored and adhered masonry veneer, with a focus on the design, materials, and installation methods of adhered brick veneer wall systems. Use of adhered veneer in interior applications is also discussed.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Define the difference between a drainage and a barrier wall system and how they work to prevent water leakage, which causes not only structural damage, but also health concerns such as mold and mildew.
  • Describe the manufacturing methods and material specifications for thin brick veneer wall systems.
  • Summarize building code requirements for interior and exterior adhered brick veneer wall systems to ensure safety and well-being of building occupants, as well as to contribute to energy efficiency.
  • Describe the design and installation methods for interior and exterior thin brick veneer to ensure safety, durability, and longevity of the wall.
