Smooth-working and reliable sliding door hardware ensures that users of all abilities can operate the doors and that the system will perform as intended over its lifetime. This course presents the types of sliding door systems and outlines their suitability for applications ranging from residential to commercial, healthcare, hospitality, and more. A review of system components, specialty systems, and case studies provides guidance on how to choose and install the right system to best meet user needs.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Discuss the types of sliding door systems, their benefits and limitations, and the possible door panel materials and configurations.
- Analyze sliding door system components to explain how they work together to safely support the door panel and offer smooth operation for all users no matter their physical abilities.
- Describe specialty sliding door systems and their applications, including high-security and cantilevered doors ideal for patient care facilities, curved systems for striking design appeal, and ADA-compliant track and hardware for all users.
- Specify a sliding door system based on the demands of the application, door panel weight, opening size, and consideration of the proper measurements and support for a safe and reliable installation.
- Review case studies and application suggestions to learn how sliding door systems enhance the functionality of a space in a wide variety of applications.
