Phenolic panels are a versatile building material for both interior wall coverings and exterior cladding, and are ideal wherever both durability and appearance are important. This course explains how the manufacturing process imparts a wide range of performance attributes to phenolic panels, discusses their role in sustainable design, and presents the diverse array of applications that benefit from the strength and beauty of phenolic wall panels.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explain how phenolic panel manufacturing results in a strong, durable, nonporous product that will not delaminate or off-gas over its long lifespan.
  • Discuss how phenolic panels made of FSC® certified wood and bearing a Declare label can contribute toward satisfying the requirements of certain LEED® v4 Materials and Resources credits.
  • Describe the UV, climate, impact, chemical, stain, moisture, and fire resistance properties of a phenolic panel that contribute to its sustainability as a long-lasting material in both interior and exterior applications.
  • Apply high yield, low waste techniques to the variety of decorative and installation options available with phenolic wall panels.
