Introduction to Solar Control and Safety & Security Window Films

Window films can be used in a variety of applications including solar control, energy efficiency, safety and security, and decorative, and films even provide antigraffiti protection. This course reviews the science behind solar energy and heat transfer and will help you understand how window film works in different applications. It also looks at how window films can contribute to everything from improving the environment to protecting the safety of building occupants.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Differentiate the main components of the solar energy spectrum.
- Explain how solar energy interacts with glass and enters a building to cause heat gain and fading.
- Identify how solar control window films mitigate fading and improve building energy efficiency by minimizing solar heat gain and glare.
- Explain the benefits of security film and the key standards and certifications to which security films are tested.
