Entrance Flooring Systems: Design with the Elements in Mind

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to the use of entrance floor systems in commercial buildings in order to promote a safe and clean environment. The course explains the codes, regulations, and guidelines specifically related to entrance flooring systems for high-traffic entrances in healthcare, education, transportation, corporate, and other commercial settings.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Explain the importance of entrance flooring systems.
  • Discuss the environmental and aesthetic considerations for entrance flooring systems and the issues related to building maintenance costs, slip/fall accidents, and rolling loads.
  • List the problems that can occur in a commercial building if the wrong entrance flooring is selected or if one is not selected at all.
  • Discuss the solutions for minimizing maintenance costs, slip/fall accidents, excessive rolling loads, and environmental and aesthetic issues by choosing the right entrance flooring system.
