How to Address On-Site Paving Challenges & Pass Inspection

When installing precast concrete, it is important to plan for and know how to overcome numerous site challenges. If not dealt with properly, these challenges can prevent a project from passing inspection and can result in installation problems, moving and cracking of pavers, and safety hazards to pedestrians. This course addresses the most frequently asked questions regarding on-site paving issues to facilitate a successful installation for a variety of applications.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • State the methods for setting pavers and how to select the method best suited for the paver application.
  • Explain the considerations required for ADA compliance for detectable warning pavers used to protect the safety of pedestrians.
  • Discuss how to manage changes in elevation that present tripping hazards, potentially leading to injuries to pedestrians.
  • Summarize how slip resistance of concrete can be achieved to minimize injuries and risks of slip and fall incidents.
  • Describe the features and installation methods of pavers that are designed for vehicular and rooftop installations.

Approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes. Delivered online, at your own pace.
