Selecting the Best Waterproofing
This course is no longer active. AEC Daily will not report completion information for this course.
There is no single waterproofing system that is best for all, or even most, waterproofing applications. This course evaluates common waterproofing product types and technologies and provides specification tips with an emphasis on quality assurance.
Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:
- Define waterproofing and recognize the role that waterproofing systems play in preventing structural damage and maintaining the integrity of the building envelope.
- Discuss how failure to specify the correct waterproofing system for an application impacts building performance and longevity.
- Examine different waterproofing products and technologies to determine their features, benefits, and limitations.
- Describe waterproofing challenges due to complex design and construction requirements and discuss how the most comprehensive site preparations can be negated if the waterproofing system is compromised, leaving a structure vulnerable to water seepage.
- With a focus on quality assurance, protect a structure by strengthening the specification language to ensure a waterproofing system is designed to suit a project’s specific needs.
