Fire control for high-rise building facades requires active and passive systems to work in tandem. This course explains how passive fire protection systems for building envelopes should be used to create fire containment compartments to control fire spread; also addressed are the codes, standards, testing, and compliance routes that apply to verify material and system performance. The course provides detailed illustrations of how the materials must be designed and installed to create effective fire containment compartments and explains how they relate to active fire prevention systems.

Name: Sreenivas Narayanan
Title: Global Partnerships Director, Siderise US LLC
Background:
Mr. Sreenivas Narayanan is currently the Global Partnerships Director at Siderise Insulation Ltd and is responsible for the development, implementation, and adaptation of the business strategy globally.
Sreeni’s expertise in the passive fire protection industry lies in developing business in new markets, promoting the technology of fire containment in modern building construction, and undertaking comprehensive fire testing programs.
As an avid advocate of advancing fire safety to build the safest buildings possible, Sreeni works with architects, contractors, and developers to ensure code compliance, encourages the adoption of fire safety standards and practices in countries that lack regulation, and promotes best practices through early engagement. Additionally, Sreeni has been instrumental in influencing regional code development and compliance in his work with local authorities having jurisdiction.
In his quest to advance his knowledge and understanding of fire safety engineering, he is an active member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE), ASTM International, Rainscreen Association in North America (RAiNA), and the International Code Council (ICC).
Sreeni firmly believes that all stakeholders involved in any building construction should aspire to get it right the first time around before it’s either not possible or not viable. By connecting people to the information they need and sharing knowledge to build collective intelligence, he hopes to leave a legacy that will inspire future generations to build safer buildings.
