This course examines high-performance composite fencing systems and their growing importance in sustainable and resilient design. Learners will explore the manufacturing process, including the materials and technologies involved, and how these systems surpass traditional wood, vinyl, and masonry fencing in durability, maintenance, and environmental performance, including contributions to SITES® v2 goals. The course examines the core standards, performance criteria, and installation considerations designers need to make informed decisions about fencing in residential, commercial, and institutional applications.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Describe how the material composition of composite fencing, including recycled content, enhances durability, sustainability, and aesthetics compared with traditional fencing systems.
  • Discuss how composite fencing promotes health and safety by meeting key safety and performance standards, such as flame spread, wind resistance, and noise reduction.
  • Correctly specify and select composite fencing components to support structural stability, safety, and long-term sustainability under varying site and environmental conditions.
  • Explain how composite fencing contributes to SITES v2 credits through responsible material sourcing and sustainable manufacturing practices, supporting resilient project outcomes in residential, commercial, and institutional applications.

Approximately 1 hour. Delivered online, at your own pace.
