Green or vegetative roof systems have become an effective means to address aesthetic and environmental issues and provide energy savings for building owners, while at the same time providing protection for a building and its contents through the use of a high-performance waterproofing system. This program describes the basics of vegetative roof systems and outlines some cost and construction considerations for designers.

Upon completion of this course, the Learner should be able to:

  • Learn the basic definitions of vegetative roof systems and use them in the appropriate context.
  • Identify potential members of the design team.
  • Summarize and discuss the benefits of vegetative roof systems.
  • Understand basic system construction and costs.
